At our school we believe a solid understanding of Maths is essential for our pupils to function in their everyday lives, both now and in the future. We aim to equip our pupils with an appreciation of the simplicity, power and beauty of Maths whilst developing in them a sense of curiosity and enjoyment for the subject.

This year, we have adopted the “Maths – No Problem!” ( ), which is based on Singapore Maths principles, as a delivery tool for our maths lessons. Incorporating the use of resources, problem-solving and group work, Maths No Problem is an exciting way to deliver the Maths curriculum. With a focus on application to real life problems, children are able to develop and use their abilities to reason, justify and prove their ideas.

Alongside our Maths – No Problem! lessons, we also deliver Arithmetic sessions which are designed to develop our pupils’ fluency in the fundamentals of mathematics and build on this knowledge each year. In Year 1, we place a high emphasis on pupils learning their number bonds to and within 20 and for all children to know their times tables by the end of Year 4.
