At our school we believe a solid understanding of Maths is essential for our pupils to function in their everyday lives, both now and in the future. We aim to equip our pupils with an appreciation of the simplicity, power and beauty of Maths whilst developing in them a sense of curiosity and enjoyment for the subject.

We use White Rose Maths to ensure that the school’s drive towards a mastery curriculum is supported by high quality resources, maths sessions targeted around clear progression and a focus on ensuring all pupils have access to a curriculum that both challenges and supports them.

In lessons, we take a concrete, pictorial and abstract approach to learning, which allows pupils to get hands-on with manipulatives, translate their thinking into pictures and jottings before attempting work with written equations.

Alongside White Rose, we deliver regular arithmetic sessions and opportunities to recall and embed long-term learning through our daily recaps and the Flashback 4 sessions that run three times a week.

To extend our curriculum and ensure that pupils are receiving the strongest provision, we adapt White Rose to include elements of Classroom Secrets, NRICH, NCETM, Test Base and I See Reasoning.

In addition to this, pupils have access to Times Tables Rock Stars to support their development and knowledge of their times tables both in school and at home (a link for which can be found below).
