Design & Technology
Our Design and Technology (D&T) curriculum helps children develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and practical knowledge through designing and making products. Throughout their time at Willenhall Community Primary School, pupils learn how to plan, create, test, and improve their ideas using a variety of materials, tools, and techniques.
Children explore different areas of D&T such as structures, mechanisms, textiles, and food technology. They are encouraged to think about who they are designing for and how their product will be useful. Pupils also learn important skills such as teamwork, evaluating their work, and improving their designs.
What do pupils explore?
Pupils develop planning, making and evaluating skills through D&T. Whether it be working together in the construction area in EYFS, building a plane with an axle in Key Stage 1 or creating a Greek salad in Key Stage 2, our interconnected curriculum enables children to apply learning in other areas to support their DT development.
